After a breakfast and more conversation with my old friends, I left Littleton and got on I-85 headed north. I stayed on the interstate system north through Richmond all the way to the Washington DC area. The population density in the central east coast does not make the traffic-light-to-traffic-light driving enjoyable. Following local routes in the DC area is not at all like doing so in western Kansas.
I arrived at the town house that is home to another couple that Kate and I have known for many years. We had a great dinner at a cheap but really Afghan restaurant and time in the evening for good conversation.
I was planning to have lunch the following day with their son who has been living in Philadelphia and who graduated from the University of the Arts in June and is one of the founders of a new theater company there. This evening I slept in his room in the lower floor on the town house.
